Premiere Assistant helps you speed up your video editing workflow inside Premiere Pro.
Follow these steps to generate a rough cut, clean up footage, and add captions and effects — all within a single workspace.
1. Transcribe the sequence
Open a project sequence to work on in Premiere Pro.
Start Premiere Assistant (Window > Extensions > Cutback).
In [Auto rough cut] menu, review the settings and click button to process to generate a transcript.
Once transcription is done, use the smart summary to quickly understand the content of your footage before editing.
2. Generate a rough cut with AI
Use the chat area on the right to create a first-pass rough cut automatically.
Choose from the presets or type in a task depending on your video type or style.
Generate shortform
Edit according to script
Keep only the best takes
Find highlights
Shorten the video to a specific duration
Premiere Assistant will create a draft with these edits.
3. Refine using text-based editing
Review the AI-generated edit within the draft project.
Refine your cut directly by reading and editing the transcript, just like editing a doc.
Keyboard shortcuts are also supported to edit the transcript.
Click ‘Apply edits to sequence’ to apply the changes.
4. Add captions
Once the editing is done, go to [Edit captions] tab to format subtitles.
Adjust line length, punctuation, and layout (single or double line)
Hide filler words, repeated words and profanity.
Translate captions into over 30 languages
Click ‘Apply edits to sequence’ to apply as Premiere Pro’s native captions, or create animated captions using the tools in Premiere Assistant.
Premiere Assistant’s captioning tools save hours of manual work while keeping creative control in your hands.
5. Apply effects and enhancements
Enhance your edit without leaving Premiere Pro:
Add motion effects or background animations with one click
Search and insert photos, stock videos, or GIFs directly within Premiere
Use built-in AI tools to edit or enhance images quickly
With these tools, you can complete your video’s visual styling without switching to After Effects or Photoshop.
