Transcription usually finishes within a few minutes, even for longer videos. If it's running slower than expected, try the steps below.
1. Remove effects from your clips
Effects like transitions, color grades, or motion graphics can slow transcription down. Remove any effects applied to the clips before running [Transcribe Video], then re-apply them after.
2. Un-nest nested sequences
Nested sequences add processing overhead. Un-nest any nested sequences in your Premiere timeline before transcribing.
Note: If you're using a multi-cam nested sequence, un-nest it before transcribing. This is a common cause of slowdowns in multi-cam setups.
3. Delete unused tracks
Extra video or audio tracks you're not using can slow things down. Delete any unused tracks from your Premiere sequence before transcribing.
4. Lower resolution for 4K footage
4K footage takes longer to process. Temporarily lower the playback resolution in Premiere before transcribing, then switch it back after.
5. Split long videos into shorter clips
Keep clips under 30 minutes. If your video is longer, split it into separate sequences and transcribe each one individually.
6. Free up memory
If your system is running low on resources, close any apps you don't need. You can also go to Premiere > Preferences > Memory to limit how much memory other apps are using.
