Understanding the Premiere Assistant Panel & Features

This guide walks you through every section of the Premiere Assistant panel so you know where every feature is before you start.

Premiere Assistant opens as a panel inside Adobe Premiere. The left sidebar shows every tool available. Click any section to open it.

Captioning Tools

Captions

The Captions section is where you transcribe your footage and edit your captions. Captions analyzes your sequence and generates a word-level transcript you can edit directly as text. From here, you can hide filler words, repeated words, and profanity; format your captions by customizing letter and word count, punctuation, and letter case; translate into 30+ languages; run a spell check; and apply your final subtitles to the sequence.

After transcription, you can also use text-based editing to edit your footage directly from the transcript and build a rough cut.

Animated captions

The Animated captions section is where you apply animated caption presets to your sequence. Browse from a preset library, preview styles in your timeline, and apply in one click. You can also create and save custom presets.

Video Editing Tools

Trim

The Trim section gives you AI-powered tools to clean up your footage. You can also run transcription analysis from this tab. Select your sequence, set the language, and choose how to analyze your audio. You can preview edits before applying and color-code the affected clips to see what changed.

Trim includes five tools:

  • [Remove silence]: cuts dead air and long pauses from your sequence

  • [Remove filler words]: detects and removes hesitations, repetitions, and hedging

  • [Remove retakes]: identifies and removes repeated lines or botched takes

  • [Edit according to script]: matches your footage to a script you provide

  • [Create shortform clips]: generates shorter clips from your full-length footage

Multi-cam switch

The Multi-cam switch section lets you automatically switch between camera angles in a multi-camera sequence. Premiere Assistant reads the audio to decide when to cut between cameras. You can also run transcription analysis from this tab.

Remove silence

The [Remove silence] tab lets you remove silence from your footage without generating a transcript.

Caution: If you remove silence here and then transcribe your footage using [Captions], your subtitles may be out of sync. If you plan to add captions, use the Remove silence tool inside [Trim] instead.

Effects & Animation Tools

The [Background effect], [Animate object], and [Resources] sections give you tools to enhance your visuals.

  • Background effect removes a clip's background and lets you apply visual effects to clips with the background already removed (clips up to 10 seconds).

  • Animate object adds preset motion to graphic elements.

  • Resources gives you image editing tools for images you bring into your project.

Menu

The Menu section shows all Premiere Assistant tools in one place. Click any tool name to jump to that section in the panel. Use the language dropdown in the top-right corner to switch languages. Click [Settings] to manage your export preferences, back up your data, or report an error.
