Written by Nandita Kothari

Caution: Cutback Browser is only available to customers who installed Premiere Assistant before June 15th, 2026. If you installed after this date, Cutback Browser is not supported in your version.

How to open Cutback Browser

To open the Cutback Browser, go to [Window] > [Extensions] > [Cutback Browser] in Premiere Pro.

Note: Premiere Assistant must already be open and you must be logged in before opening Cutback Browser. If you open the browser first, you will see the message: "Attempting to connect to Cutback server." Close the browser, log in to Premiere Assistant, then try again.

Searching for media

Cutback Browser lets you search for images, videos, and GIFs from the following sources:

  • Unsplash (photos and videos)

  • Pixabay (photos and videos)

  • Pexels (photos and videos)

  • Giphy (GIFs and stickers)

Enter a search term in the browser to see results from all four sources.

Licensing terms

Cutback Browser displays results from third-party sites. Each site has its own license terms. Below is a summary — always check the source site for the full and up-to-date terms.

Unsplash

Unsplash photos and videos can be used for free, including for commercial purposes. See the Unsplash license for full terms.

Pixabay

Pixabay photos and videos can be used for free, including for commercial purposes. See the Pixabay license for full terms.

Pexels

Pexels photos and videos can be used for free, including for commercial purposes. See the Pexels license for full terms.

Giphy

Giphy GIFs and stickers are free for personal and non-commercial use only. They cannot be used for commercial projects. For commercial work, use Unsplash, Pixabay, or Pexels instead. See the Giphy terms of service for full terms.

Troubleshooting

Cutback Browser won't load, or the search isn't working

If Cutback Browser is not loading or search results are not showing up, check for a version conflict with Premiere Pro. Make sure you have the latest version of Premiere Pro installed and try again.

Caution: Do not reinstall Premiere Assistant to fix this issue. Reinstalling will remove your access to Cutback Browser permanently.

FAQs

Can I still use Cutback Browser after the June 15th, 2026 update?

Yes, if you installed Premiere Assistant before June 15th, 2026. Open it via [Window] > [Extensions] > [Cutback Browser] in Premiere Pro. If you installed after June 15th, 2026, Cutback Browser is not available in your version.

Why do I see "Attempting to connect to Cutback server"?

This message appears when Cutback Browser is opened before Premiere Assistant is running. Close the browser, open Premiere Assistant, log in, then open Cutback Browser again.

Can I use Giphy GIFs in a commercial project?

No. Giphy GIFs and stickers are free for personal and non-commercial use only. For commercial projects, use Unsplash, Pixabay, or Pexels — all three allow free commercial use.

What happens if I reinstall Premiere Assistant?

Reinstalling Premiere Assistant will remove your access to Cutback Browser. If you need to troubleshoot, try updating Premiere Pro first rather than reinstalling the Premiere Assistant plugin.
