Note: Some folders in this guide are hidden by default on both Mac and Windows. Follow the steps below to access them directly.
Mac
Step 1. Close Premiere
To avoid any issues, fully quit Premiere before uninstalling. If Premiere is open, the extension files will be locked and cannot be deleted.
Step 2. Open the Go to Folder window
To open the Go to Folder window, open Finder and press [Cmd + Shift + G]. A small search bar will appear on your screen.
Step 3. Delete the extension files
You will need to check two folder locations and delete the extension folder from each one.
First location (system-level):
In the Go to Folder bar, paste the path below and press [Enter]:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensionsLook for a folder called
com.cutback.cep.If you see it, drag it to Trash.
Second location (user-level):
In the Go to Folder bar, paste the path below and press [Enter]:
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensionsLook for a folder called
com.cutback.cep.If you see it, drag it to Trash.
Note: If either folder does not contain com.cutback.cep, that is fine. Just skip it and continue.
Step 4. Clear the cache
To clear the extension cache:
In the Go to Folder bar, paste the path below and press [Enter]:
~/Library/Caches/CSXSDelete the
cep_cachefolder.
Step 5. Restart Premiere
To confirm the uninstall is complete, open Premiere. Premiere Assistant should no longer appear.
Windows
Step 1. Close Premiere
To avoid any issues, fully quit Premiere before uninstalling. If Premiere is open, the extension files will be locked and cannot be deleted.
Step 2. Open File Explorer
To access the hidden AppData folder on Windows, open File Explorer. In the address bar at the top, type %appdata% and press [Enter], then navigate up one level to the AppData folder.
Step 3. Delete the extension files
You will need to check two folder locations and delete the extension folder from each one.
First location:
In the File Explorer address bar, paste the path below and press [Enter]:
C:\Users\{User Name}\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\com.cutback.cepIf you see it, right-click and select [Delete].
Second location:
In the File Explorer address bar, paste the path below and press [Enter]:
C:\Users\{User Name}\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\com.cutback.cepIf you see it, right-click and select [Delete].
Note: Replace {User Name} with your actual Windows username. If the folder does not exist, just skip it and continue.
Step 4. Clear the cache
To clear the extension cache:
In the File Explorer address bar, paste the path below and press [Enter]:
C:\Users\{User Name}\AppData\Local\Temp\cep_cache\Delete the
cep_cachefolder if it exists.
Step 5. Restart Premiere
To confirm the uninstall is complete, open Premiere. Premiere Assistant should no longer appear.
FAQs
I deleted the folders but the extension still shows in Premiere
If the extension still appears after deleting the folders, make sure you also deleted the cep_cache folder in Step 4. Restarting Premiere without clearing the cache can cause the extension to still show up.
I cannot find the com.cutback.cep folder in either location
If the folder is not there, the extension may have already been removed or was never installed at that location. Try restarting Premiere to confirm whether the extension is still active.
The Library folder is not visible on Mac
The Library folder is hidden on Mac by default. Use the [Cmd + Shift + G] shortcut in Finder to go directly to a hidden folder path without needing to see it.
The AppData folder is not visible on Windows
The AppData folder is hidden on Windows by default. Open File Explorer, type %appdata% in the address bar, press Enter, then navigate up one level to access AppData.
