If you already have a subtitle or script file, you can use it to generate captions in Premiere Assistant instead of transcribing from scratch.
Option 1. Import a TXT file
Use this when you have a script or transcript saved as a TXT file. Premiere Assistant will use it to generate captions and only re-analyze audio for parts that don't match.
In Premiere Assistant, click [Captions] from the panel menu.
Scroll to the Script field at the bottom of the panel and paste your text.
Configure your other settings and click [Generate captions] to start.
For full details on configuring settings before generating, see Generate Captions for Your Video.
Option 2. Import an SRT File
Use this when you already have a complete subtitle file and want to skip transcription entirely.
In Premiere Assistant, click [Captions] from the panel menu.
Click [Upload SRT file] at the top right of the panel.
Select your SRT file.
Note: Timeline panel features are not available when using an imported SRT file.
Troubleshooting
I can't upload my SRT file
If your SRT file won't upload, the issue is usually with the file's encoding. To fix it:
Open the SRT file in a text editor.
Save it as a new file and set the encoding to UTF-8.
Try uploading the new file in Premiere Assistant.
