When Selects analyzes your footage, it also marks the parts you probably cannot use: shots that are out of focus, shaky, or soft. Nothing extra to run, it comes with the analysis.
See where the bad shots are
Bad shots are marked on the source strip, not on your draft. The source strip is the view of the whole original file, and it only opens once you select that file, so you will not see any marks until you do.
Open the [Project] tab in the left panel.
Click the original video file listed under your draft.
The source strip opens below the preview, with the unusable stretches marked in red stripes.
Note: Selecting your draft instead of the source file will not show the marks. It has to be the original video file.
The marks are on by default. To turn them off, open the preferences menu in the top bar and click [Mark bad shots in source] under [Timeline]. The setting sticks between sessions.
Clean them up
To clean up the bad shots, ask chat, for example "fix the blurry shots" or "remove the shaky parts". Chat works from the stretches already marked during analysis, so you do not have to scrub through your footage to find them. It tells you what it changed when it is done.
FAQs
I do not see any marks on my footage
If you do not see any marks, check that you clicked the original video file in the [Project] tab and not your draft, since the marks only appear on the source strip. If the source strip is open and still clean, either there is nothing to mark, or that file has not finished analyzing yet. Also check that [Mark bad shots in source] is switched on.
Can I search for blurry shots?
No, you cannot search for blurry shots. Scene search matches what is happening in a shot, not how sharp it is, so searching for "blurry" will not find them. Bad shots are already marked on the source strip, and chat can act on them directly.
Does this work on footage I added later?
Yes, this works on footage you added later, once that file has been analyzed. Detection is part of analysis, so anything analyzed gets marked.
