Selects has a full keyboard shortcut system, with presets that match Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve. This guide covers where to find your shortcuts, how to change them, how to bring yours over from another editor, and what every default is.

Open the keyboard view in either of two places: click [Keyboard shortcuts] in the settings menu in the top bar, or open [More] in the floating toolbar and click [Shortcuts].

The view draws a full keyboard with every assigned shortcut marked on its key, so you can see what is already taken at a glance. Under the keyboard, the same shortcuts are listed by workspace area: General, Project panel, and Transcript panel.

Selects ships three shortcut presets, one per editing tool, so the keys you already know keep working. Pick yours from the dropdown at the top left of the keyboard view: [Adobe Premiere], [Final Cut Pro], or [DaVinci Resolve]. Premiere is the default.

To change a single shortcut, click its key in the keyboard view, then press the keys you want. To put a shortcut on an action that does not have one yet, click an empty key and pick the action from the list.

Your changes save as you make them, so there is no separate save step. [Reset all] puts every shortcut you have customized back to its default.

If two actions land on the same key, Selects flags it rather than letting one silently win. The key shows which action already uses it, and [View conflict] takes you straight to the clash.

To bring your shortcuts over from another editor, click [Import] next to the preset dropdown. Selects looks for Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve shortcut files already installed on your computer and lists the ones it finds, so usually you can just pick yours from the list. If your keymap is somewhere else, choose [Choose a file…] and select it yourself. Selects reads .kys, .commandset, and .xml files.

When the import finishes, Selects tells you how many shortcuts transferred, for example "Imported 42 of 60 shortcuts." If any of them clash with a shortcut you already had, the message says how many, so you can go and clear them.

Shortcuts go to whichever panel is active, so a transcript shortcut will not fire while the timeline has focus. Click into the panel you want first, or jump straight to it: Shift + 1 to Shift + 4 on the Premiere preset, Cmd + 1 to Cmd + 4 on Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve. In order those are the project panel, the Assistant panel, the draft timeline, and the transcript.

The keyboard view replaced the old [Customize] button. You now change a shortcut by clicking its key directly in the keyboard, then pressing the keys you want.
