Publish to TikTok

To publish to TikTok from Selects, you connect your TikTok account once, choose what to post, fill in the post settings, and click [Publish]. Selects uploads the video for you, so you do not need to export a file first.

  1. Open the project with the timeline or video you want to post.

  2. Click [Export] in the top right, then choose [TikTok] under [Socials].

  3. Choose what to post with the tabs on the left: [Timeline], [Video], or [Image]. Click the timeline or video you want. A timeline is rendered by Selects at 1080p (full HD, FHD) and 30 frames per second (fps), and the result opens in the preview.

  4. The first time, click [Connect to TikTok]. Your browser opens: sign in to TikTok and approve access, then return to Selects. When it is done, the window shows Connected as and your TikTok name.

  5. Fill in the post settings on the right. See Post settings below.

  6. Wait until the preview finishes loading, then click [Publish].

  7. Keep Selects open while the video uploads. The status moves from Uploading to TikTok to TikTok is processing your video to Published to TikTok.

Note: TikTok can take a few minutes to finish processing before your post appears on your profile. A post set to [Only you] has no public link, so Selects shows [Open your TikTok profile] instead of [View on TikTok].

Post settings

The post settings for your TikTok video sit on the right side of the window. Visibility and the viewer options always start empty, so you choose them for every post.

  • Caption: optional, up to 2,200 characters. A counter shows how many you have used.

  • Visibility: choose [Everyone], [Friends], [Followers], or [Only you]. You must pick one. Which options you see depends on your TikTok account.

  • Allow viewers to: tick [Comment], [Duet], or [Stitch]. All three start unticked. An option is unavailable if you turned it off in TikTok.

  • Content disclosure: turn on [Commercial content] if the video promotes a brand, product, or service. Then tick [Promote my own brand or business], [Promote a third-party brand (paid partnership)], or both. Selects shows the label your video gets: “Promotional content” or “Paid partnership”. A paid partnership must be visible to [Everyone] or [Friends], so [Only you] and [Followers] are unavailable while it is ticked.

  • AI-generated content: turn this on if the video was made with AI. It is off by default.

Under the settings, Selects shows the TikTok terms you agree to by posting: the Music Usage Confirmation, or the Branded Content Policy as well if you ticked a paid partnership.

Each TikTok account has a maximum video length set by TikTok. If your video is longer, Selects tells you the limit and asks you to trim the video and export it again.

Which videos you can post to TikTok

A video you already have in your project must meet these requirements before you can post it to TikTok:

  • Format: MP4, MOV, or WebM

  • Video codec: H.264, H.265, VP8, or VP9

  • Frame rate: 23 to 60 fps

  • Size: width and height between 360 and 4096 pixels

  • File size: up to 4 GB

Post images to TikTok as a carousel

To post images to TikTok as a carousel, open the [Image] tab. Choose 1 to 35 images in JPEG, PNG, or WebP format, up to 20 MB each. Drag the thumbnails to change the order. The first image is the cover.

  • Title: optional, up to 90 characters

  • Caption: optional, up to 4,000 characters

  • [Let TikTok add recommended music]: lets TikTok add music to the carousel

  • Allow viewers to: only [Comment] is available for images

Image posts cannot be added to a batch, and an interrupted image upload cannot be resumed.

Publish several videos to TikTok at once

To publish several videos to TikTok at once, select up to 10 timelines or videos in one go. Selects uploads them one at a time.

  1. In the TikTok window, tick the checkbox next to each timeline or video. A counter shows how many you picked, for example 3 of 10 selected.

  2. Click [Next (N)]. With more than one item picked, the batch window opens. With one item picked, the usual single-post window opens.

  3. Click each post in the Posts in this batch list and fill in its settings. TikTok needs the visibility, viewer options, content disclosure, and AI-generated content choice set by hand for every post. [Copy caption to all] copies only the caption.

  4. When every post shows [Ready], for example 3 of 3 ready, click [Publish N] and confirm.

  5. Keep Selects open until every upload finishes. The progress reads, for example, 2 of 3 uploaded.

To drop a post, click [Remove from the batch]. To pick different videos, click [Change selection]. To stop, click [Cancel and close]: the upload in progress stops and posts still waiting are not sent. Posts already uploaded keep processing on TikTok.

Manage your TikTok account

To manage your TikTok account in Selects, open [Manage account] next to your name in the TikTok window.

  • [Switch account]: sign in again with a different TikTok account

  • [Disconnect]: remove the connection from Selects

  • If you connected more than one account, pick the one to post from in the list. Your visibility and viewer choices reset when you change account.

FAQs

Can I publish a video to TikTok from Selects?

Yes. You can publish a timeline, a video, or a set of images to TikTok from Selects. Click [Export], then choose [TikTok] under [Socials]. Selects renders timelines for you, so you do not export a file first.

Why can I not click Publish for my TikTok post?

The [Publish] button stays off until the post is complete, and Selects shows the reason above it. The usual reasons are: no TikTok account connected, no visibility chosen, the preview is still loading, [Commercial content] is on but you have not ticked either option, or the caption or video is too long.

Do I need to keep Selects open while a video uploads to TikTok?

Yes. Keep Selects open until the upload finishes. To stop, click [Stop upload]. TikTok may already have received part of the video, so check your TikTok account before you try again. Once the upload is complete and TikTok is processing it, you can close the window.

How long until my post appears on TikTok?

It may take a few minutes for your post to finish processing and appear on your profile after Selects shows Published to TikTok.

What does “Publishing stopped, confirmation needed” mean for TikTok?

It means Selects could not confirm TikTok’s reply. Open your TikTok account and check whether the post is there. If it is not, turn on I checked my TikTok account and confirmed this video was not published, then click [Review a new attempt]. If the post is there, do not post it again.

What if TikTok says I have reached the daily posting limit?

TikTok limits how many posts an account can publish each day. When you see “You’ve reached TikTok’s daily posting limit”, wait and try again later.

What if Selects says to update the app to connect TikTok?

If you see “Update Selects to connect your TikTok account”, your version of Selects is too old to connect. Update Selects to the latest version, then click [Connect to TikTok] again.

Can I publish to YouTube too?

Yes. YouTube sits next to TikTok under [Socials]. See Publish your video to YouTube from Selects.
