Frequently asked questions
What is a credit and how does it work?
What is a credit and how does it work?
A credit is the unit Selects uses to measure your usage. Everything comes from one shared balance: your plan gives you a set number of credits each month to use however you need.
Feature | 1 credit covers | Credits per hour |
Video analysis | 10 seconds | 360 credits |
Audio analysis | 1 minute | 60 credits |
Image analysis | 1 image |
|
Note:
Audio analysis: credits apply only when you have a separate audio file (such as a lav mic recording). Audio embedded in your video file does not count separately. Video analysis covers both.
Video analysis: Credits are counted against the total video duration of every file you upload, not the length of your main timeline (sequence). Selects analyzes both the video and audio in each file to power AI drafts, topic detection, scene search, and B-roll suggestions. If you upload 4 camera files that are 2 hours each, Selects counts 8 hours of footage, even if the actual interview is only 2 hours long.
For example, an editor who uses Selects only to sync a 2-camera shoot and hand it off to Premiere Pro:
2 cameras × 1 hour of footage = 720 credits per shoot
Starter plan (3,600 credits) covers 5 full shoots per month
If they also use image and audio analysis, those pull from the same balance, so the total video hours available go down accordingly.
Do unused credits roll over to the next month?
Do unused credits roll over to the next month?
No. Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle. If you have leftover credits at the end of the month, they don't carry over.
Why can't I use the free trial even though I haven't used it with this account?
Why can't I use the free trial even though I haven't used it with this account?
The free trial is linked to your device, not your account. Each device can only access the trial once, regardless of how many accounts are used on it. This is in place to prevent trial misuse.
What's the difference between Pro and Pro Max?
What's the difference between Pro and Pro Max?
Both are under the Pro tier. Pro gives you 14,400 credits (40 hours of video) and Pro Max gives you 36,000 credits (100 hours). Pro Max is the better value per credit if you edit a high volume of footage regularly.

Is Agent Chat and the MCP integration available on all plans?
Is Agent Chat and the MCP integration available on all plans?
Yes. Both Agent Chat and the MCP integration are available on all Selects plans.
In-app Agent Chat (Timeline and Prep page): Chatting is included in your plan. Credits are used when the agent creates or applies a draft. The exact amount depends on the duration of your source footage and the draft generated.
MCP integration: The LLM AI agent (Claude, Codex, etc.) is billed through their respective credit systems, separate from your Selects credits. Selects credits are only used when the agent creates or applies a draft in Selects.
For frequent use of either, Pro or higher is recommended since Starter plan credits (3,600/month) can go faster with regular draft generation.
