Apps in Selects: built-in apps and Explore

Learn where apps live in Selects, what each built-in app does, and what you can find in Explore.

Written by Nandita Kothari

Apps are the tools that do one job for you in Selects, like tightening pauses, adding captions, or generating a shot. They live in the [Apps] tab of the project panel, beside [Project].

Open and organize your apps

To open an app, click the [Apps] tab at the top of the project panel, then click the app's name. Each app opens in its own tab beside [Project] and [Apps], so you can keep several open and switch between them.

  • Search: Click the magnifier at the top right of the list. Search also matches the words inside an app, so "punctuation" finds Captions.

  • Sort: Click [Name] to flip the list between A to Z and Z to A. Starred apps stay on top.

  • Favorite: Hover an app and click the star. Starred apps move to the top of the list.

  • Change the icon: Click an app's icon to pick a color, or click [Choose image] to use your own picture.

  • Open in its own window: Hover an app and click [Undock panel]. To bring it back, click [Bring back here] in the app's tab, or close the window.

Note: Favorites, icon colors, and pictures are saved on your computer. They don't travel with the project.

Built-in apps

Built-in apps come with Selects and are made and maintained by the Selects team.

[Clip highlights]

Ready-made templates that turn your footage into a short, finished edit.

[Cut filler words]

[Effects]

[Generate audio]

[Generate image]

[Generate video]

[Remove silence]

[Speaker audio settings]

Decides whether each speaker's tracks play only while they talk. Learn more in Set up speakers, cameras, and audio for multi-cam.

Note: Most apps work on the draft you have open. If you see "Select a timeline to work on", open a draft first, then try again.

Clip highlights

Clip highlights gives you ready-made templates, built by the Selects team, that you can use with your own footage.

  1. In the [Apps] tab, click [Clip highlights].

  2. Hover a template and click [Recreate].

  3. Add what the template asks for under What you need. Some templates use the draft you have open, and some ask you to add clips or photos.

  4. Click [Apply].

Selects builds the edit in the background, so you can keep working. When it's done, the result is either applied to your draft or waiting in a new timeline.

Note: If a template shows "May use credits." under [Apply], running it can use Selects credits. A template that works on a draft needs one with only video and audio on it, with no captions, graphics, or effects yet.

Explore

Explore is the gallery at the top of the [Apps] tab. It holds ready-made video templates and example AI videos. Click [View all] to open the full gallery.

  • Generate video: Example videos made with AI. Click one to see it large, then click [Recreate] to open Generate video with the prompt already filled in. Nothing is generated until you click [Generate] there.

  • Clip highlights: Templates for short edits. Click one to open it in the Clip highlights app.

FAQs

Where did the Tools tab go?

The Tools tab is now the [Apps] tab. It sits in the same place, beside [Project] at the top of the project panel, and holds the same tools plus the new built-in apps.

Why does Cut filler words say "This app isn't available for this timeline"?

Cut filler words is not available for a timeline when none of its footage was transcribed in English. Switch to a draft with English footage and the app comes back as you left it.
