Multicam Settings: Configure Speakers, Cameras, and Audio

Configure speaker names, assign camera tracks to speakers, select audio sources, and set camera switching behavior (follow speaker, auto scene mix, or manual).

After AI analysis, Selects identifies your speakers and maps them to camera and audio tracks. Before you start editing, review and adjust these settings to make sure the mapping is correct. This directly affects how camera switching, speaker labels, and audio routing work throughout your edit.

Camera switching logic applies only to the individual draft where it is set. Speaker, camera, and audio settings apply across all timelines in the project.

Where to find multicam settings

Open Camera switch settings from the floating toolbar at the bottom of the workspace. This panel shows your full speaker and track configuration.

Camera switching logic

At the top of the panel, choose how Selects handles camera switching:

  • No camera switch: Disables automatic camera switching entirely. Use this if you want to manage camera angles manually on the timeline.

  • Follow speaker: Automatically cuts to the camera assigned to whoever is speaking. Uses the speaker-to-camera mapping you configure below.

  • Auto scene mix: Varies camera angles for visual interest, switching between angles at natural moments regardless of who is speaking.

Speakers

Below the switching logic, you see the speaker configuration for each detected speaker.

Speaker name

Selects detects speaker names from the audio during analysis and assigns them to each audio track. This detection can be wrong, so review the names here and correct any mistakes. Click a speaker name to edit it. The change applies across the entire project: transcript, timeline, and export.

Camera

Select all camera tracks where this speaker appears. For example, if Speaker 1 has a close-up on camera 1 and also appears in the full shot on camera 3, select both tracks 1 and 3. This mapping is used directly by Follow speaker and Auto scene mix to determine which angles are available for that person.

Audio

Selects picks the best audio track for each speaker automatically. If you recorded with individual lav mics or separate audio sources per speaker, check that each speaker points to the correct audio track. You can change the assignment here if the auto-selection is wrong.

When "Play all selected audio tracks" is toggled off, only the speaker audio track is active and all other audio tracks are muted. Toggle it on to hear all audio tracks at once. This setting carries over to your export.

When to adjust these settings

Review multicam settings when you first enter the workspace, before generating drafts or making edits. Incorrect speaker-camera mapping will cascade into every draft you generate. Getting it right early saves rework later.
